Rear Suspension Noises
My apologies if this has been previously discussed….did not see it in a search.
2004 LS430UL, 115k, air suspension - rear suspension makes a scrubbing/creaking sort of sound. Worst when starting out in the am and driving slowly.
where should I start in order to diagnose?
thanks.

Rubber parts. Most likely the anti-sway bar but could be other bushes.
If you use the E-brake when parked, it could also be the E-brake pads dragging.
That will require getting the rear rotors off and giving the drum brake system a good overhaul.

Update
Had tires installed at indie tire store that I use for most work. Mentioned the noise I am hearing and asked them to lube the sway bar bushings just to see if the noise changed.
the tech said he believes the noise is actually coming from a heat shield under the car that is rubbing. I didn’t get to talk to the tech, they just said I would need to bring the car back in to address.
I trust these guys but has anyone else experienced this? It seems odd.
thanks.

Could be. There are a lot of heat shields underneath.
Did you watch the latest Car Care Nut video?
He mentions that all 100K+ LS430s with air-suspension creak like that.
I know my air-suspension is a bit tired at 145k miles but so far it keeps working.
My brakes creak a little after sitting for a few days and I have a rattle from a loose heat shield but otherwise she still wafts magnificently.
