He he the fact that even though you drive the SUV from time to time its still her's hence the men to women ratio of SUV drivers/owners. I just found it kind of humorous thats all, absolutely nothing person, no jabs at you your wife or your SUV just the off topic comment about the influx of women SUV drivers thats all. My apologies if I caused you to assume otherwise.

No offense taken. It just seemed that you didn't realize that "Mercury Mountaineer" is a true moniker for an SUV.

Again, around here many men drive SUVs as their primary vehicle. But I agree that their appeal is mainly women. I guess it levels the playing field...women can drive "up high", etc.

Smile good stuff

Ah automotive happiness! I am buying myself a used 2 wheel pickup to run around in. Kinda goes with my bike and my 33 chevy street rod. I won't smoke cigars in the LS ha.

Hi Daryll,
How do you live with Ford Reliability. My '00 Windstar was the worst POS I have ever owned! I swear I will never buy an American Car again!
Thanks!

Ford reliability is spotty. We've had 4 Explorer/Mountaineers in 10 years. The first 2 were good. The third had issues but we worked thru them...I admit that the extended warranty company on that deal...and the fourth one only has 20,000 miles but so far, no problems other than a driver's seat that is wrinkling prematurely....the so-called "leather" is really "vinyl". Truth be told we looked at the GX but I can't stomach those third row goofy seats. What were they smokin' when they designed THAT? The Ford design is perfect...flip it up, flip it down. So I'll put up with some spotty reliability because the design is better!

At $8K, it seems to be worth doing. First of all, when I go to trade in 3-4 years, an '04 will be worth about $4K more than an '03. So for 4 grand net real difference, I have the newer model. I realize that there is some rationalization here...I am the first one to point that out to others. Also, the dealer pointed out something that I had not thought about. He said that the repair will show up on CARFAX in a few years when I go to get rid of it. So maybe the difference between trading an '03 that was fixed vs an '04 (in three years) might actually be the full 8 grand that they'll swap out for right now. Maybe.

Aggravation.

I would go for the new vehicle. Driving any car with repaired body work just diminishes its value, real or perceived.
