I had XM installed on my '04 LS a couple of years ago. I didn't get it originally because I wasn't sure I wanted the visible antenna. A lead techncian at my dealership said they had success with installing the antenna in the rear center brake light assembly on the rear deck. They installed it there and I have had great reception. with no problems. Nothing is visible and the radio works great.

Didn't know you hung around here also but it figues since you seem to be everywhere. It's me Sam from the old MKIV crew in San Diego. How was the F&F get together? I looked on the Viastech website. The unit I was looking at has a XM or IPOD input, however it does have AUX jack to add either, but this also means you will only have head unit controls of one. They say they are going to have a product at the end of the year that will have XM and IPOD inputs which your head unit will display and control. Guess I will use my tape player adaptor in the mean time.

I do not know if this applies here or not, but I have sirius on my 05 LS 430. It was installed by the dealer and it works great. They converted my Mark levinson system from xm to sirius with a "sirius connect" kit and it works and looks factory. The antenna is inside on the top part of the windshield.
( with the little bit of snow we get here in the Buffalo area its a good idea). I hope this helps someone who wants sirius instead of xm.

According to a PDF file from Sewell Lexus... The XM Radio option is only available on 2005-2006 LS430s.
http://www.sewellpartsonline.com/imp..._Sat_Radio.pdf
Doesn't seem accurate since a few members have this installed on their 2004 LS430.

I think the Sewell Lexus response covers both Lexus installed and dealer installed XM.The XM in my car (2004) was available as dealer installed only. It was not available yet from Lexus although the car was prewired for it and the headend radio was set up with satelite buttons.

It's a strong magnet. It hasn't moved in six years even taking it through car washes and winter ice storms. If I were doing it now I would mount it in the interior back brake light light. I have not changed it in case the paint color was different under the magnet where it was not exposed to the sun. My car is gold metalic and difficult to match.

I bought the adapter, tuner and antenna (new) on ebay for $229, and had them installed at a stereo shop for $150. I now have sirius radio through my LS430's radio. XM is available as well. The dealer wanted twice as much.
