Default Hello

I just purchased my 2001 LS430 Ultra. Its a big difference to go from a 1994 ES300 to an 01 LS Ultra.
My car is black with Ecru interior.

Congrats. I have an '03 UL Silver/Ecru. I'm curious, how many miles does your '01 have and how well has the Ecru held up for wear-n-tear (i.e. dirty spots/scratches/tears/etc) I'm kinda concerned how mine is going to look in a few years.

u really will be quite surprised. I have been looking at 04's and down and it looks the same. The person I bought the car from was veryyyyyy rich and dcidnt care about money at all so there were 2 pen marks on the leather. But after we did a full detail on the car and leather all that went too!!!! As long as u dont put papers on the leather and take good care of it, it should stay fine. Just condition the leather once in every few months. I will try sending u some pics of my leather condition

One quick question: Since my new car is an 01, i want to get the new navigation cd's or whatever u have to use upgraded. Can anybody tell me wher to go and much they cost

Thanx

I replied to you other navigation post. You can look here:

If your LS430 is still under basic warranty, you may want to first contact Lexus Customer Service to determine whether your LS430 is eligible for free navigation update. Congrats on your new LS.

mink92890, thanks for the info. Pictures would be great too. I am verrrry careful to protect my leather. In fact, I have a small, ecru colored, top quality wash cloth that I place on the armrest to shield it from direct skin contact. I know a "wash cloth" sounds tacky but it is of such high quality that it actualy looks like a small hand towel that fits perfectly over the armrest. I also have a large towel I place over the rear seat in case I need to carry small packages in the interior. I am also very careful about keeping the leather clean on a regular basis and whenever I see dirt in between regular cleanings. My salesman was very good to warn me about caring for the Ecru interior. He said to make sure never, ever allow anyone to sit on the leather for any period of time if they are wearing dark colored clothing that hasn't been run through the wash a few times - especially if the clothing is damp. He said his dealership had two customers come in complaining that someone with new blue denim jeans sat in their car and stained the seats and they couldn't clean the leather enough to remove the stains. The customer had waited too long to clean the seats. The stains had already settled into the leather. He pointed out that if that ever happens to me I should clean the leather immediately before it sets in. I am also careful not to allow anybody with clothes that have metal rivets (such as some jeans) sit in the car. I had a black leather car several years ago that scratched very easily.

gs400998, I'm not 100% sure but I don't think the DVD updates are covered by the basic warranty. Do you know of someone who obtained updates this way?

I didn't know my hard drive based Navigation is cover under basic warranty until I contact Lexus Customer Satisfaction. I was told that my 99 GS is allowed up to three updates during the basic warranty period. It doesn't hurt to email or call Lexus Customer Satisfaxtion to find out. It saved me abour $300
