Question Reasonable Deal on a LS430

I am considering purchasing a LS430 and would like some advice on how much over dealer cost is a reasonable deal. I live in St. Louis, but am willing to travel up to 300 miles to buy the car. Any information regarding dealerships would also be helpful.

Thanks,

Bob

Best deal that I found was $1500 over invoice. Invoice was the carsdirect price (among others) plus a $768 advertising charge that my car consultant said was real. My consultant said that anything less than $2000 over invoice was decent. I was hoping for 500 - 1000, but no one seemed to be very hungry for a sale in January. I sent out bid requests to 50 dealers. I received quotes as high as retail for a special order car. Most were willing to take $1500 - $4k off of the MSRP.

It also could have had something to do with the fact that I special ordered a car from Japan.

Dealers will deal on GSes in a much more strenuous fashion. I did a GS last year for $1000 UNDER invoice.
