Default Sports Suspension

Why is the sport suspension option no longer available on the Lexus web site . As an option or on the "you build it"? My dealer states that a ss equiped car will no longer be included in the mix he receives and ss will only be available as a special order item---90-120 day wait. Can someone point me to a site where the ss is described in detail and perhaps compared to the standard suspension?
TIA Steve

Strangely all ls430's in the the 2004 ls430 brochure show the euor pack wheels. I have the 2004 euro pack - I prefer the larger rims and handling but frewway driving is nosiy and a bit bumpy. This pack needs better tires to appeal to the typical ls430 customer who prefers the smooth quiet ride at all speeds to better handling on twisty roads.

Lexus supposedly stopped building Sport packages for the winter season, and will pick up in the spring. I just ordered one from Japan, so they will build one for you if you want one. Three - four month wait.

I solved the tire problem by having the dealer substitute 17 inch wheels for the 18 inch ones.

We'll see how it works out.

I definitely want the Euro-tuned option since my 01 LS430 with the option is still feel not firm enough. The 04 ES loaner car, with strut bra, feels firmer than my 01 LS430 with the Euro-tuned option. I believe the firm is not only to do with rim size. It also to do with the entire suspension system.

Because the tire noise of the 17" rim of my 01 LS430 is loud enough, I will probably go for the same solution to order teh 04 LS430 with Euro-toned suspension, but with 17" rim. I don't know my dealer will alow me to do that. I just want the firm suspension, not the road noise.

The Canadian site has a pix of the suspension and this info

"Keeps more tire to the road". The suspension keeps tires upright and in better contact with the road during cornering and uneven surfaces.

This type of suspension is vertically compact, allowing a lower hood and fenders. Another advantage is that a double-wishbone suspension can be tuned for both comfort and handling with minimum compromise.
