I had a STS once, or maybe it was twice since Cadillac had to replace the first because the trunk leaked so bad and formed mold in it, and they couldn't get it out. This was back in '96-'97. The dealer could never correct the defects both from new and during ownership. The impression I got was that they expected you to bring the car to the dealership every three months to fix things, but they had trouble doing that. We had japanese cars before, so we experienced the quality and reliability they have.

Anyway, we traded for a '99 LS400 and never looked back. Only saw the dealership at 15k mile intervals for regular maintenance.

Now have a '04 LS430 and love it again.

I wouldn't take my Lexus to a Cadillac dealership because it may catch the virus that causes Cadillac's to have to have service by the dealer at frequent intervals. It not worth the joy of giving them the finger!!

I believe the standard 18" for 2005 will get non-lowprofiles. They should last as long as regular tires.

I'm sure the same goes for the other thousands of customers who are companring the LS430 with other cars.

My grandfather owns a LS430. In terms of ride quality, handling, quietness, comfort, etc. it is the best. It is the best value in its class PERIOD!!!

Exactly what happened to me when I bought my first LS about 8 years ago. After the overnight test I could not give up the car. Sold it last year and now have an LS430.

No question - the LS430 is among the best in its class, if not THE best!

I brought an used 98 Lexus LS400 three years ago and I loved it. I just recently picked up a 2004 Acura MDX and there is no comparison. The MDX ride is so harsh compare to the LS400. I have three kids and I still rather throw my kids in the LS400 than the MDX. I will never get another vehicle that is not a Lexus after the Acura MDX. My wife just loves the Lexus interior and styling.

This is good to know. I was looking at getting an MDX myself - I guess I should look at the RX or GX.

The power for a SUV is not bad. The ride is definitely a bit harsh when you go over a noticeable bump. The sound system is no comparison; my LS400 doesn't even have the Mark Levinson and it still sounds so much better. I will have to upgrade the subwoofer and add a bigger amp for the MDX to sound good.

An MDX is what I drove to the dealership. We bought it instead of the RX three years ago because it is just a little bit larger. I really don't have too much bad to say about it. Nice size, adequate power, maybe a little noisy in wind and it has been relatively trouble free. It now has a 110k and the springs are starting to feel a little loose and it also has a little less "zip". I wouldn't hesitate to recommend one to someone needing a midsize SUV.

HAHAHAHHA, I thought the exact same when my dad said he was going to buy a lexus, but I never bothered to convince him. One of our family friends has a 740 which has been a peice of crap, so my dad will never buy a bmw product.
