I have read all of the posts regarding the problems with bluetooth on a 2004 or a 2005 LS430 and I am thoroughly confused. What phone can I buy now that has the least problems with the bluetooth interface or is there a future phone that I should wait for rather than buying a phone now?

I have the Sony Ericson T616 through AT&T for my '04 and it works fine. No problem downloading the phone book all at once. I called Lexus before picking a phone and there were a few phones that they "recommended". This was one of them. There was the T610 and a couple of Nokia models but no Motorola at the time (I don't know if the list is different now). I went with the Sony Ericson because I had read some posts that there were problems dowloading the phone book from the Nokia models where the contacts had to be done one at a time.

Here's a website for "Lexus approved" phone information that I was given by my salesman. (Hopefully this will work. I've never tried posting a link before.)

I am loving the bluetooth option and am using a siemens s56. Only negatives I can see: the siemens phone does not automatically create a speakerhone on the lexus system,(when dialing with keypad); without specifically turning on speakerphone, etc. Also, biggest problem with lexus quickdial is the limited number of positions, not allowing you to go to "phonebook" while moving. Another fact of life in our over-protective world. If I am missing something or anyone knows how to disable this and nav system, please advise.

Verizon Wireless finally released their first bluetooth-enabled phone in August, the Motorola v710. Unfortunately Verizon crippled the phone's bluetooth capability -- all you can do is use the car's microphone and speakers to provide a limited hands-free capability. Verizon disabled the telephone book transfer capability, so you must use the phone's keypad rather than the car's touch-screen to access your telephone book to make outgoing calls. You will have to enter your telephone book by hand into the v710 since the bluetooth data transfer capability is disabled. Another problem is that neither the phone nor the car makes a ring tone for incoming calls when they are connected, so its easy to miss incoming calls. The v710 has a nice voice command capability that doesn't require training, but that capability is disabled when the phone is connected to the car. Other than that the v710 itself is big, heavy, expensive, has poor battery life, and has an awkward user interface. I returned mine before the 14 day trial period had expired, a very dissatisfied customer.

While I agree that the V710 and the LS430 both have Bluetooth limitations, I happen to think that my V710 is a very good phone. It has great reception, plenty of battery life, and a very flexible user interface.
