I'd be first in line. I truly believe there will be nothing on this planet like a silky Lexus V8 mated to a 6-speed manual RWD. There are rumours of a V10 supercar, upwards of $120k, but I want a V8 for everyday driving in the 50k range, 2 doors, 4 doors, who cares. I hope the next gen IS430 will have a manual.

Default Election

Just voted this morning and low and behold a new acura R/L pulled up next to me. Nice looking but not nearly as regal as my LS430. Much smaller as well. I would have had a better look but was late getting to work, as I had to wait almost an hour to vote.

Personally I just like bigger cars as the Flag ship car.

One very curious thing to me is that both the RL & LS430, on paper the cars are very close in dimensions (except the trunk), yet, when you get into an RL it seems so much smaller. V8 vs V6, yep, it feels good to have smooth deliverable power across the board, not when you "wind it up". And last, but not least, the Lexus is truly a luxury car, just the feel and materials are so much better. I think I made a good choice.

10 years from now, when your LS is still the same as it is today you will be even happier with your decision. Good job!

I have to second this comment.

I have an 6-yr old '99 LS (build date Nov 1998), now with 95K miles. Looks, feels, drives like brand new. Smooth, smooth, smooth...... The RL is a really nice car, BUT there really should be little to compare b/w V6 and V8. Acura rates the V6 RL at 300hp which may appear to be "equal" in output to the 290hp V8 LS430, but these engines are not comparable in torque, smoothness, and grunt. V8s win over V6s anytime....

LXTASY, you made a great choice. Enjoy your new ride.....

Acura just decided to introduce the RL type-A spec, with 3/4" lower springs, 18" chrome plated agressive wheels, and a tailfin. More to keep up with its boyracer image.

Yep, a pinstripe (painted on), which is the 2nd used car I have bought with one on it........go figure. I love the wheels, so those are going to stay. The guy I bought it from put so much armorall on that it sprayed the side of the car !!! I have to wash the bottom qtr panel to get all of it off..........oh well.

Thats not true in my area, not by any means.

My friends work their @$$es off everyday, one brings home 280/wk, one brings home 400/wk, and there are droves of others that probably hit the 200-300 range. In my area of massachusettes, if you dont have an education you are genuinely screwed.

I am a god among insects because I have a 12 year old lexus that you guys probably just look at as a sort of antiquated machine, but in all seriousness, I am convinced if you put 10 of us* together and we pooled our resources, there is no way in bloody hell we could touch an LS430, brand new or otherwise.

*my social circle.

I love my new(2000 miles) 2004 LS430 and would only trade it(possibily) for a new GS V8. Having said that, I think the new RL is "da bomb" and unless you really want a softer, quieter ride I'd get the Acura.

One of the causes of the poor money situation is most definitely the cost of rent. Indeed, there is no apartment in my area that's less than $600 a month. No way. I know plenty of my friends that are up in the $800 range. And the landlords are jerks... and it takes a credit check just to get an apartment to begin with... the list goes on and on. As a result, the costs of houses in my are have also gone rediculously high.

Some of my friends who still live at home have parents that make them pay rent. I can't believe it most of the time, but it actually still happens.

But again... there are virtually NO jobs around here that pay enough to actually touch a new lexus.
No way in he(ck).
