Hi all:
A quick question. On my 2004 LS-430 I noticed, with the chilling temperatures, that when I left for work today my center vents were no longer swiveling. I confirmed that the swivel control was activated by hitting the CLIMATE button.
After further experimentation, it appeared that when the temperature controls were adjusted so that the climate control system is in air conditioning mode, the vents swivel, but when the climate control system is in heating mode, the vents don't swivel.
Can other LS-430 owners confirm whether this is normal behavior?

When I cranked up my heat today in my LS430 I got no swivel at all. Maybe the heating system acts different than the cooling for a particular reason. What that reason is I don't know. Good question though, I never noticed it until you mentioned it.
GOD IS GOOD ALL THE TIME.

Thanks for checking and replying. I guess my car is acting normal. :-) I also did some additional experimentation and discovered that if you go to the climate control screen and set the climate control mode to bi-level, the center vents will swivel even in heating mode.

In the automatic heating mode, the heat only comes from the footwell section, and there is no need for the swivel operation at the top, hence the thing does not work - there is no air coming from the top. If you have temp high and force it out of auto and into manual top or bilevel mode, the vents shall swivel.

Center Vents that swivel?
I'm confused. I'm looking for an LS430 and I've done lots of research but this option is new to me.
Are you guys telling me that the center vents automatically move? How, what, where?

Everybodies reaction was like that. There is an option which will make the center vents based on airflow. It moves as to what sensors tell it 2 do. The sensors are located throughout the cabin, and its job is to tell the vents wher the least amount of air is. So the center vents direct the flow there. If you dont lke that yo can always switch it off, (I love the feature). I love seeing people's reaction when seeing it. THE LS IS TRUELY UNBELIEVABLE!

Actually the car knows if there is a passenger sitting in the right front seat and will direct more airflow to the right side instead of focusing on the driver. The LS also has a solar sensor and if it detects cruising down the road that the sun is blaring down on the right side of the car, then more airflow will be directed to that side. Your LS know's what's happening, so you don't have to.....
