LS430 R-Spec Air Ride Controller Installed!!!
#16
Ra40, my son just turned three and he also helped me install it! If you have no kids get started it is the best thing ever!
Where did you purchase the unit, $700 sounds like a pretty good price.
Steve Ganz at Carson Toyota will take care of you, email gonzo4u@earthlink.net or go to his site www.carsontuned.com
How is the ride when in the lower settings,
It is still very comfortable and quite, also if you plan on low pro tires you need to purchase Michilin Pilot Sport A/S, the A/S is very important for a quite ride.
can you set the shocks stiffness independant of the ride height,
Yes, you can control dampening independant of ride height, I have not altered dampening at all. This is why the ride is still very smooth when lowered, the factory sport and normal button still functions as standard
do the shock stiffen up as you go lower,
or does it do nothing for the shocks?
I do not know if you know this or not but this controller is only if you have factory air suspension. This will not work with conventional springs and shocks.

Thasnks for taking the time to answer all of out questions, I have been looking for one of these units but have found no-one that has a controller and I don't know where to purchase one.
Thanks

I dont know if your car sits on the tires when lowered. On mine it does and when its parked I lower it onto my tires. If someone tries to STEAL my car it will take time for them to figure out where the controller is and how to raise it.
My car is always parked Lowered.
For those that have the older model a USED controller can be had at a good price and all you have to do is buy a new harness for your model car. Mine is USED and has been working just great for over 3 yrs with no problems. So that makes mine about a 5-6 yr old controller and no problems at all.

Can you post the instructions or something?
I want to know how easy it is to install.
Do any wires have to be spliced or anything?
Can I install this at home? I have lots of experence with car audio installs and computers, so I'm wondering if it's that easy.

What amuses me is when you pass other LS owners in yours and they stare at the car. You know they are thinking...WTF did they do to it?
An elderly couple we know, the husband is very observant. When we stopped to visit them in the summer, he'd noticed I had lowered the car. When we saw them a couple weeks back, he was quick to comment on the new wheels. He stated to me that he dislikes the huge tire/fender gap and that big wheels just look "right" on a car. I thought is was a guy in his late 70's was in tune with a much younger generation.

also, we need a separate LS430 forum.

If I can install this controller myself, count me in!
