Default Low Tire Pressure Warning

My low tire pressure warning light came on today for the first time. All the tires are fine. The temperature in Atlanta was about 60 degrees, so it is not due to the cold.

Anyone know how to turn it off?

There is no specific info in the owners manual?

The system might have to be re-calibrated.......that also should be in the owners manual.

Mine has done this, also for no apparent reason, twice within the past 2 weeks. There is a post here about it sometime between Xmas and New Years. Anyway, I suspect it has something to do with changing temperatures (it rose to 55 degrees here in Pittsburgh from being in the 20s not too long before). Anyway, the manual is worthless here but there is a button under the dash in front of the driver's right knee. Just reach under there and feel around and reset it. Unfortunately the manual doesn't tell you this, just some baloney about driving at 19MPH which doesn't work.

Thanks for the information Daryll40. I'll try it.

If you find that yoru still having problems.......call your local Lexus dealer. I'm suprised nothing is explained in detail in the owners manual. It does sound like the system need to be re-set or re-calibrated.

For what it's worth, mine came on again...3rd time in 2 weeks. I'll probably live with it until about March 15th when I take off my winter tires THEN have the dealer look at it. Fortunately it's easily resettable and doesn't affect the operation of the vehicle.

I used the reset button as Daryll40 suggested and the warning went off. It has not come back on again. I spoke to the service department at my Lexus dealer and he said something about replacing something relating to the ABS system (sensor?). I'm bringing it in on Thursday and will let you know.

I had my car serviced and they replaced a computer that monitors the ABS system, tire pressure and a couple of other things (I believe they called it an AB attenuator). I was told that they've had a number of complaints of the tire pressure warning light coming on and they've replaced this part on those cars. Apparrently Lexus knows about the problem. The issue is that the unit is too sensitive and detects much too small differences in tire pressure. The cost to Lexus to replace the unit under warranty is about $3,000. I think it takes about 2 hours to replace. This will, hopefully, solve the problem.

At 3 grand, you can be darn sure that I'd NEVER pay to have it fixed OUT OF WARRANTY!

Low tire pressure warning system. Is this on all 430's? I have an '01 LS430 and don't know if this is on my car. Maybe the low tire pressure idiot light is next to the muffler bearing overheat sensor light?

I have just started having trouble with the tire pressure warning system.

My tires are fine but the warning has come on 3 times now.

My car is due for 10,000 mile service soon - I'll mention it then.

Let's see:-

Fuel pump
Transmission
Shift pattern
A/C compressor
and now tire pressure.

I like the car but I have to say my LS430 isn't living up to the low defect experience I was hoping for.
