2001 LS430 51K miles - the engine belt is starting to squeak pretty loudly at idle. Anybody else have this problem? When I had the car in for detailing at a local Toyota shop I mentioned it to a guy as I ws picking up the car and he said it had to do with all the rain we've had lately here in Phoenix. He sprayed some WD40 on it and it went away but now its back.
Do I need to have the belt replaced?

I have the same problem with my 2001 LS430 and it started at about 50,000 miles also.I now have 55,000 miles on my car and the sound comes and goes depening on how the weather affects the belt. My local dealer did check it out a month or two ago and told me the same thing they told you in Arizona. They said that I don't have to change it, that when the belts get older they get drier. So it causes the noise me and you here. Also they said here at Charles Barker Lexus Virginia Beach that if it is to irritating to me, to then change it but its not neccessary. They said at scheduled services the techs would inform me when to perform the belt replacement. Me myself ill be changing mines at 60,000 miles. Love GOD not money, and GODBLESS

I have the same problem. Mine is an 02 with 60k. I tried spraying some belt dressing on it tonight but I couldnt really get to the pulleys well with the huge fan shroud on this thing, so it just got louder... go figure.
