Default Interior upgrade required / Ecru Interior?

I have two questions regarding the Ecru interior.
1. Is this a different (higher) grade of leather? I assume they are not charging $1400.00
for the special color.
2. How hard is the Ecru interior to maintain? It's extremely light and even my salesperson
said it is difficult to maintain and would not recommend it.

I am currenty shopping for a new LS, and one of the options I really wanted was the laser
cruise control. But to get this option requires the custom luxury package which requires the
interior upgrade package which, in my area limits you to the Ecru interior.

I, would be interested in opinions and comments from anyone who has the Ecru interior.

Thanks,
Mike Hill

I have ecru, it is a little harder to maintain but not unreasonable.

That's exactly the reason I ended up with the Ecru interior. The extra cost includes the "Nappa" leather and it is nice, really soft but somehow seems like it will also wear very well.

My car is coming up on one year old and it looks like I'll need to clean the leather soon. That's with an 8 and 4 year old in the car on a regular basis.

I'm real careful to not kick the door panels accidentally getting in and out as that would be harder to clean than the seat leather I think, especially the cloth speaker covers.

The mats are a darker taupe color, but there is a spot or two of the lighter carpet that I'll have to clean somehow soon.

So in short, it's not impossible to keep the Ecru clean if you're careful.

yes, you have to be real careful about it.
I love ercu color but guess what it is a ***** to keep it clean!!
make sure you have clean mat to protect the floor or it will get dirty in couple days!!
Also, try not to open the window too often as the suede-like top will get dirty too!!!
the leather in UL model is better than regulars, plus all the extras you get, that's why I went straght to UL model when I was trying to purchase one.
