I'm dying to see some pictures of what the new LS might look like. I have this feeling that Lexus is going to do something special with this car. No more blandness (which, personally, I don't see) or Mercedes look-a-like comments.. In my personal opinion, The Lexus LS has the most comfortable, classy interior and it drives like a Luxury car should drive. All that's "supposably" missing is style.. How far in advance do we normally get spyshots?

That picture looks like the new Avalon.
What I heard from my dealer was that the new LS should be out in the fall of 2006 as a 2007 model and will likely be a hybrid LS500 with a long wheelbase option. The objective was to maintain the same or better gas mileage yet obtain BMW 760iL (V-12 Engine) power.

My theory is the next LS is gonna get chopped and hacked like the new GS which I absolutely think was a slap in the face of the old GS. Lexus seems to be going to this rounded off/hatchback looking strategy for their cars and future small SUV's.
Anyhow... I for one HOPE that spyshot above might actually be it... I think it looks like a logical evolution to the current LS without going overboard. And if its an AWD LS500 all the better.

The next LS will have an all new 4.6 liter engine from my understanding. It will not be a simple bore and stroke like the 4.0-4.3 we have now.
A hybrid will follow, probably before 2010. I doubt it will be available at launch since Lexus will use it to bump sales in a later year.
AWD will also be available.
I doubt a long wheelbase is coming. There is a lot of talk in Lexus about a model above the LS but nothing concrete yet.
Expect swoopier styling but nothing crazy, the LS is the best seller in its segment so buyers are happy. Imagine, the car will have even MORE electronic gizmos.
