Poor Seats in 2005 LS430
#19
The thread is still valid. I just test drove a '05 LS430 last night and I must say, the seats are too "wide" for me and I'm not getting the right lumbar support. I'm not short, but not YaoMing tall either (5'10"), and I'm coming from a '99 RX which fits fine, but in the LS it was like I was sitting in papa bears chair, it was just too big. The drive was nice, but now I'm thinking how the long term ride is going to feel.

I don't get what people are complaining about either, I have driven every single Lexus cars of all model years and most of the SUVs, the 05' LS430 seats are probably the most comfortable one of them all. I am guessing people that don't like them is because they don't like them big, then you bought the wrong car, get a smaller one instead.
I don't remember any differences between the 01'-03' and the 04'-06' seats either.

Okay, I have to revised my accessment a little. I test drove a '05 with 52K and it was too big, but I test drove another '05 today with only 38K and I must say, this lower mileage one's seat was MUCH better. It was more firm (in a good way) and the side support was much better. All I can think of is that the 52K LS430's owner must have been either a big, or a fat, dude.

Maybe it is a problem isolated to my UL version and the ventilated (Hot and cold) seats. I just spent the day driving many LS (430 and 460), ES350, RL, TL autos both new and used. Every seat was better than the ones in my 2005 UL LS430.
Anyway, I realize we all have opinions. The fact is that for me these seats are not supportive and I will ditch the car because of it unless someone here can provide some advice on how to make the seat comfy.
For this of you with great seats, I am truly happy for you.

Blame the previous owner
I know that during a test drive, we can only absorb so much data into our minds, but the first thing I always notice when I test drive is how the seats feel on my body. I guess you did not notice the "uncomfortableness" of the seats when you test drove it?
If the seats are really that bad... then take the HUNDREDS of dollars hit and get a new driver's seat.

I am looking into the options of replacing the seat. Wondering if the LS460 seats will fit and match.
As for the car, it is a 2005 UL in Flint Mica with the dark interior. Every possible option to include Chrome 18 inch wheels. 53,930 miles now.

i honestly think no one should complain about these seats, sit in a saab 9-3 then complain. maybe it was just me, but it was the most uncomfortable seat i've ever been in, while i found the ls430 to be one opf the best, next to a fleetwood and my 560 sel off course

Whatever!
I have one problem, a pain in the @$#, on an otherwise PERFECT car and I have no right to complain, of which I really am not complaining - merely seeking a resolution from someone who has solved a similar problem. Mid you, a solution by definition is never an opinion.
Again, if anyone can help with a solution on a worn-out seat, then please do so. Otherwise I will ask that all opinions remain within yourself so as to not foul the air for others.
Many thanks to whoever is more concerned for others than for themselves.
