I too have wind noise above 50 MPH in my 2004 LS430 and it drives me crazy. So much so that I seldom drive the car on the freeway anymore. This is my 7th or 8th Lexus and I've never had this problem. My wife's LX470 is much quieter then my 430.

I've been to the dealership, called Lexus customer service...no luck. Should you find more about this issue, please let me know.

Many thanks...Marty

Just a thought....I get some minor wind noise at the windshield, but only when I'm driving in traffic. I do not seem to get any when I'm alone on the highway. Could this noise be caused by driving through the turbulent air from the car or truck ahead of us? I just don;t seem to get much wind noise when I'm in "clean" air.

Question Ls430 Wind Noise

Your point is taken. Here's another interesting point (in my opinion). The wind noise I wrote about concerned my 2004 LS430. I Now have a 2005 LS430 which is the same body style (in fact I cannot see any differences anywhere between the '04 & '05's) and my '05 doesn't have the same noise level. Go figure. The problem may have been caused by the sealing around the '04 windshield. When I reported this to the lead tech at my Lexus dealer ,he tested a few '04's and reported that the noise did vary between the ones he drove. What is striking is how quiet the LS430's cabins are at speeds under 55 but the area around the rear view mirror gets noisy above that at times on hi speed roads. Maybe crosswinds? I'm so spoiled by the lack of cabin noise that it may seem louder when it does occur.

I have ridden in several LS430s and the wind noise problem seems limited to the 2004 model year. In my 2004, it is very annoying at any speed above 50 MPH even when you are the only car on the road.

I suspect that Lexus made some miniscule change to a body part for the 2005 model year that altered the aerodynamic profile of the vehicle enough to eliminate the problem. Such a change could not be easily retrofitted to the 2004 model hence the run around that 2004 owners receive at their dealerships.

Wind noise is not limited to the 2004 model year. I own a 2005 LS430, and I have excessive wind noise coming from the top of the windshield, as I have posted before. And I traded-in my S420 for the Lexus, primarily for its quietness, quality, and reliability. Well, I guess I'm getting quality and (hopefully) reliability. I never noticed the wind noise during the test drive. Didn't drive that far or fast. Live and learn, right? Ugh.

Heh . . . no problems with my 01 . . . perhaps you guys should toss a rock at your windshield and get your insurance company to replace it for free??? *LOL* I can't even imagine having significant road / wind noise in the LS . . . I could use it! The thing puts me to sleep . . .

Maybe if we start a petition to Lexus asking to resolve this issue we will get somewhere?

I have the same problem in my 2004 UL and it's driving me crazy, not to mention all the rattles (more than my 1993 LS400).

I just recently bought an 05 LS and after driving at least 20 of them I noticed it on every single one of them. I drove several 02's, 04's, and 05's and they all had it. People that ride with me do not notice it until I point it out but it is very irritating.

I have also noticed a noise on my window seals that sound they creak (rubber against the glass) if I am on a bumpy road.

Other than that I lover the car. Best driving car so far..........way better than the 5 series or the S class that I test drove too.

I must be deaf but I don't hear any more wind noise at 30mph than 70mph. I even query my wife who has bionic ears and she doesn't notice it either. Most noticeable is the road noise but if driving on new asphalt, its eery quiet. I've just mounted back my stock 17" for the winter and the noise and ride difference between 20" and 17" is night and day.
