Default Windshield replacement cost how much?

unrealii -

If you dont' mind disclosing, how much did the dealer charge you to replace the windshield? I just picked up (last week!) a 2001 LS-430 UL and it too has a largish rock chip in the center of the windshield. Since the chip might just be at the limits of what they can do to repair, and since the windshield also has tons (100? 200?) of *tiny* rock chip pits, I might consider doing a full windshield replacement.

Also, did you have the dealer use all Lexus parts? I hear insurance companies frequently push to try to get people to use cheaper glass, or make people pay the difference between OE and cheaper glass on such work.

thanks,
--Chris.

The dealer never told us how much the windshield costs. It was agreed in the total purchase price that the dealer will replace the windshield out of it's pocket. The windshield says lexus on it, so I'm guessing they did use lexus parts.
