My brakes faile twice today where I pushed the brake pedal to the floor without the car stopping then the brake recovered so i could stop. Lexus road side assistance is taking my car to the nearest (only ) delaer. Brake fliud is full and the car has 15,000 miles. No warning ights. Outside temp near 100 F. Any ideas?

The dealer could not find anyting wrong but after repeated driving they finally experienced the same problem. They said they were bringing in a "diagnostic engineer" tomorrow.

Default diagnostic engineer

A $100 oil change is probably the limit of our local Lexus dealership so they fly in a "diagnostic engineer" when they have a problem. He said to replace the master brake cyclinder. Hope he is right or I may not make any more posts! Surprised that this is defective after one year in a $60,000 car.

This is pretty troubling. Regardless of whether swapping out the master cylinder fixes the problem, please also report the incident ot he NHTSA. See: http://www.safercar.gov/pages/ODIFAQsRev2.htm

Default Are you kidding me?

The dealer says that master brake cyclinders are on back order and that I will not get my car back until the middle of July while the part is shipped to them from Japan. I called Lexus customer assistance and they were clueless. Is this any way to run a luxury car line?

Boy I would have fun with that dealer. I know they gave you a loaner car to drive. Hennesy Lexus in Atlanta always gave me a new ES300 when they did warranty work or even Oil changes on my LS or SC. You should call your dealer back and tell them they might want to put a rush on getting your ride fixed since you have a cross country trip planned and it will be done in their loaner car if yours isn't fixed and ready for the road in the next two weeks. Then I would rack up all of the miles I could on thier loaner car. Enjoy its free miles. I would cover 3-4K miles in the next 30 days on that loaner car.

Get the exact part number (s) and make some calls to our forum vendors (sewell lexus and carson toyota) to see if they can get them.
