Heat related Problems??????
just to make a long story short....ITS HELLA HOT where I live and work...and now my car is starting to have some issues:
1.) the dashboard is starting to bubble
2.) the trim ring around the NAV screen is warpped
3.) the Nav system is being a little CRAZY! Put in an address to a local tint place I wanted to go to...it told me to go on the 215N, so I got on the 215N and the next think I know it is telling me to go 215S. Another problem I have had with the Nav, is that i will be on Foothill driving home and the Nav screen will show me on Elm, which is the next street over...
Anyone know else have these type of problems in HOT areas?

I strongly, strongly recommend getting windshield/side window sunshades for when you're parked, and parking in shaded areas. We're doing this right now; I've noticed some of the vinyl trim feeling somewhat loose after prolonged exposure to heat, and some squeaky sounds have come from them during driving. We now use sunshades everywhere to prevent damage.
As for the NAVI system, haven't had that problem, but on another non-Lexus, with someone else driving, it went to the wrong street.

Also possibly turning off the display screen once in a while...it gets hot but cools down real fast when off.
But as for GPS/NAVI issues, I don't think that's very relevant...

I'm in Dallas where it can get pretty toasty. If I know it is not going to rain, I will crack the moonroof sunshade about an inch and tilt the moonroof "up". This allows some decent ventilation when parked. Makes a BIG difference, trust me. You will notice. Also, when you start the car, make sure the air is on "fresh" for the first few minutes and leave the moonroof tilted. You can feel with your hand all the super-hot air being pushed out the top. Works very well.
Let me know how it goes- good luck- and get to the dealer and get those warped parts replaced!

man, i can't imagine how it can that bad. wonder what people in arizona would be like
my wife is driving the sc430 to valencia (magic mountain) client's office every day now and she says it's hella hot, but with the sunshade (and we tinted the windows i thought it should be fine.
how about leaving a little gap on the windows when you are not there?

Best Sunshade
I just ordered these sunshades:
http://www.autosunshields.com/
The best part about them is they cover the front Side windows as well, they hold in place very well because they are cut exactly for the LS430. They make them for other cars as well... The company sells direct from their site and on Ebay as well.

My guess would be Huper Optik film. Expensive, but very effective when it comes to heat rejection. I have it on my cars, but I pay a fraction of the price (side job). www(dot)huperoptik(dot)com.
