Default First shots of the next Lexus LS? Part 1

OK guys I hope this artical is wrong...

http://www2.autospies.com/article/in...articleId=5195

Last Sunday, Lexus was showing the LF-S on the lawn at the Lodge at Pebble Beach.

Although we have shown this concept car before in other issues, sources from within Lexus have told us that this design is VERY close to the final design of the next LS-Series.

We also hear that the LS concept could be launched as early as this fall.

You can find design cues from this concept in the new GS already. There's a thread discussing this with pics comparison in the 3GS forum a while ago. Concept cars often look a little radical, I don't think verbal descriptions of it being "very close" really tells you much.

If the new LS looks as sleek and sexy as the LF-S, I'd love it...this concept still retains some cues from the original LS 400....

However, to be the new LS, the model would need more conservative cues to tie in with the previous models, and more elegance and refinement in its features. Also, a 'sleek' design cannot sacrifice interior room a la Benz CLS, and needs to be stretchable for the LS 460L.

Also, since the new GS seems to be the LF-S wrought to life, and the GS is supposed to be the sportiest, I wonder whether the LS will dare to be 'more sporty' than the GS. That runs the risk of alienating the loyal LS market.

That would mean a pretty radical design change from the current one.
I'm all for it

No way the next LS will look like that. It might go a bit in that direction, but it won't be nearly that "future car" looking because that isn't going to appeal the the mainstream LS customer at this point in time.

From that angle it looks good, very CLS, I could imagine how it would look in darker hues. I wonder how the rear headroom will be tho.

I see the current production GS in the LF-S. I wouldn't want the '07 LS to be similar as it would be a cookie cutter line-up.

There are reports that the next LS will have a Long Wheel Base version .

I hope the LS doesn't 'out LF-S' the GS, which to me seems to be the conceptual heir of the LF-S.

For one, I think the sloping rear of the LF-S (echoed on the GS) wouldn't work too well on the Next LS because of rear seat headroom. Unless they come up with an Audi-esque solution.

But I'd also not want to see the 'Bangled' LS idea that showed up in Road and Track a while back...so I'm hoping for an L-Finessed LS, with cues from the LF-S, but more subtle and conservative yet sexy and stylish at the same time. Sort of echoes of the original LS with the LF-S and the current LS mixed. And hopefully this 'moderate' version is not mediocre, but still a standout.

Sloping rear without a hatch door usually means a small trunk opening too, as in the case of the new GS

Default Beautiful car

I suspect that as with all concept cars, this will be modified to make it practical. It is dificult to get the feel for just how large this car is, lloks more like a sports car, and LS will need to be a large luxury vehicle. The mirrors are obviously "concept" style and will need enlarged unless there is some new technolgy there, like a camera, lol. Overall I really like it. Put in a 350 HP powerplant and this is good to go for me.

I saw this car up-close and personal at the LA Auto Show, the spokesperson said that the side 'mirrors' were indeed cameras which are the Next Generation 'Backup Camera' turned 'Side Camera' et al...also the LF-S has no windshield wipers, rather an 'air spray' system, and a panoramic clear roof...

...if any of these features makes it into the LS...WOW
