I was wondering if the LS430 has the smarts to rollup the windows that are down when the rainsensor detects rain on the windshield? Sounds like an easy thing to do, but doubt any car out there has this capibility. Am I wrong? Is there any reason you'd want the windows down when it was raining and the car is off?

Fear of the ambulance chasers (lawyers) would probably prevent a feature like that. As soon as someone's dog or child (accidentally or intentionally) got their neck stuck in the window when it was rolling up on its own....

Thats what pinch protection is for.... its standard on every LS with auto up/down since 98.

Yeah, they use a current sensor to detect if there is an obstacle. Try it with your arm in the sunroof- it works!
That would be a far better feature than my friend's 1994 VW Jetta GLS(that means it has a sunroof, power windows, and rear disc brakes - and the engine 'delete' option - 2.0 4 banger). For some reason, when it rains, his rear windows roll DOWN.... terrific when it rains for three days and he is gone out of town. His car smells like feet now.
Darned German electronics... and what gives with the vacuum operated power door locks on the VW?

Given that, they should add the feature. Although, I don't leave my windows or sunroof open anyway because of all the crud in the air here in Florida....
