So my dad owns a 2001 LS430 and wants to get some wheels for his car. But, he wants to do what most of you don't want to see. He's not going to lower it, he's not going to stagger the wheels, only wants to go with 18's. Obviously, he doesn't want to lose the comfort of the ride now. I have a GS400 on 19 inch Scaras with the fat setup. He loves the look of the wheels on my car, and appreciates how the ride didn't change that much (I only lowered it about 1.25 inches), but he thinks the tires 245/40 275/35 would be too thin for his tastes. I've convinced him to at least consider going with 19's, and since he's not going to stagger he'll be able to run 245/40 front and back on a 19x8. He's so stuck on the number series of the tires (35, 40, etc) saying that they are just too thin.
So, in this case, seeing is believing. I'm wondering if there is anyone in San Diego that is running 19's with or w/out the fat setup. If so, I just want to know if I can have him take a look and see in person what the wheels will look like on a LS. I'm working with Derrick/D2autosport on getting the Iforged Techniks, which pops likes the look of. I plan on buying these for him for his b-day, but I have to make sure he'll be happy with them before I buy them. Hope someone can help. Thanks in advance.

I am assuming the Ls430 is the family car and there will be other in the car riding along frequently? Go with size 18" rims with tire size 235/ 50/ 18. That should be the maximum size. Anything higher just wouldn't be practical. I believe there is a guy in the classified section selling polished 04-05 18 inch wheels for a good price. That is hands down the best looking rim for 2001-03 models.

Persian451, do you mind posting pics of your car in this thread, or link me to a pic?
Thanks for all you input so far.

Well not practical on the east coast. I live in Boston and the roads aren't the best due to cold weather in the winter which causes potholes. But regardless of weather, bigger wheels puts more strain on a car. But they sure look good!!
