Supposedly it's going to be a rough winter in the Northeast this year. Last winter was ridiculious and the Ls430 with all season tires was pretty lousy in snow. I just bought a 96 Pontiac Gran Prix for $850. I has the "big" 3.1 V6 and is fully loaded The main thing is that it is fwd and I find fwd vehicles waaay better in the snow. I will be using that car for the majority of the winter.
I've been using the car to commute to work to save gas and keep the miles low on the LS flagship. I have 29K on my 2001 so far. Also I don't like leaving car in a paying pubic outdoor parking lot all day.
Driving the Grand Am and then the LS 430 is like night and day!!! I don't know how some people can rough it and drive such a simple vehicle. So much noise!!! It squeaks, rattles, bobs and weaves. No neck snapping acceleration when you need it. I feel embarassed, people definately don't respect you on the road and will tailgate and drive around you cause you "appear" to be slow. And the best is those with "hooked up" car who look over to you at the stop light trying to bait you into racing or smile as if they are ridiculing.

I get home and jump into the gleaming Jet black LS430 with sport 18's, dual exhaust, crossdrilled rotors, dark tint and booming system and instantly feel great!!!!!
Suddenly every who is in front of me start driving like the cops are behind them.
Now I know how they feel!!!!

haha ... im actually looking to get a winter beater too... I have a friend who wants to sell a 1999 ML320 in good condition.

but with the insurance rates that I have here in NYC, I dont think I can afford one...

by the way, did anyone compare insurance rates of the LS430 compared to other lux cars?
I am actually paying $100 more for the LS430 than what I was quoted for an S500.
