Default Improved Ownership Experience-LS430

Well, my LS430 is now almost 2 years old. Thanks to you folks, learned how to override the NAV so I can program it while I drive. I know many of you think this is unsafe and foolish, but I consider it a great improvement in my quality of ownership. But the real piece de resistance...inspired by your instructions on how to override the NAV...is that I FINALLY figured out how to have the AUDIO settings on the screen all the time (unless I am using NAV). It used to DRIVE ME CRAZY that there was no way to glance at the radio or screen and see what frequency I was listening to. But after the "override" info, I experiemented with "SETTINGS" and found that there is a way to turn off the automatic shut off of the audio after a few seconds. So now the radio settings are on the screen all the time...AS I WANT IT...unless I use the NAV (rare) or switch to something else temporarily.

I'll bet there are MANY other LS430 owners...perhaps especially older ones like my 70 year old father...who also are unnerved by the fact that you can't see what frequency you are listening to UNLESS YOU PRESS THE BUTTONS. BUT NOW THIS IS RESOLVED. I wish the salesman had shown me that from the beginning. I realize they can't show every feature....there are so many...but my guess is that this is something that more owners than not would be happy to know and use.

Cool, so the system DOES have the function...you found it. That's something new around here!!! Thx for the info and glad you figured it out!

I guess I should have done that to begin with. Sorry!

1. Hit the hard "OPTION" button on the right side of the NAV screen
2. Hit the touch-screen "INFORMATION" button
3. Hit "Screen Settings"
4. Change the upper of the two choices to to "OFF".

You still have to hit the hard "AUDIO" button after each startup, but it seems easy to get used to similar to hitting the secret handshake for the NAV override that we've been discussing here. Once you do the above, all you'll have to do is hit "AUDIO" each time you startup and the audio screen will stay on the whole time...so you can quickly glance at what frequency is playing.
