Hey Guys/Gals,
I've got an '01 LS430 Ultra and my driver side HID bulb just went out. Is there some sort of trick on removing the ballast from the HID bulb? I unlocked the ballast by turning counter-clockwise, but for some reason I can't remove it from the bulb. I don't want to pull too hard in fear of breaking it. If there is some sort of "hint" on replacing the bulb, please let me know.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance!

you have to remove the metal cover, then the 2 metal braces that lock the socket in, then the bulb will come out. At least thats how my LS headlight is, im guessing it wont be that different.
Edit: I found a great write up by rominl with diagrams for the GS, its very similar to the LS.

ah sorry i see this thread late
yeah, if it's anything similar to the gs, i think there is a silver cover that you need to pop off first before you should twist the power connector. once you twist the power connector by 45 degrees, you should be able to get it off already

I am trying to replace the HID bulb also for my 2002 ls430. Can someone tell me whether I should remove the entire head light first? I tried to loosen the two bots and the headlight came loose. But It seems I cannot complately remove the headlight still stuck there. Should I remove something else first, like the bumper?

Just joined. We have a 2002 LS430 Ultra Package and 2008 LS460
2002 LS430 headlight - replacement, I gather, is to remove the front wheel then remove a cowling cover to gain access to the bulb in the headlight housing. Bulbs are available from ? on line for approx. $50. Am I missing anything? What problems should I be aware of?
Dealer wants big $ to replace the bulb and I'm up to DIY.
Thank you.
