I had my LS400 from 95 to 2004 and never felt like I was in an old person's car. My friend's S-class MB definitely looks like an old coot would be driving it. There's something about those that makes you think...."OLD".

Around here, I rarely see an LS driver that is younger than ~60. However, lots of the people in this area who have 'em are relatively wealthy, retired CEOs and high-level business guys, so I take it as a compliment to the LS that these people, who could drive whatever they wanted, choose the LS. But be that as it may, it makes me a little more eager to mod mine so it looks and feels a bit more performance oriented. But yeah, you gotta whoop the grandpa out of it! You just need wheels and tires, sound system work, tint, exhaust, and properly selected and set up coilovers. But be careful in all your aftermarket parts selection that "upgrades" don't become downgrades instead.

I'm in my mid 20 and drive a 06 LS430. Driving this car does make me feel old, or should I say more mature. I don't drive the same way as I did with GS430 and I miss that greatly. I'm planning to pick up a 2dr coupe next year to rejuvenate my thristy inner soul. 350Z, G35, or SC430.

And for the LS, I will probably add a roof/trunk spoiler and some bodykit. I like the way 18" look and ride. Or I could switch to the 19" that have been sitting in the storage room.

Ive seen other LS430 and they can look very tame looking especially with stock 16's or even 17's, non sport model which I am pretty sure sits higher.

I can't picture gray haired folks driving with this set up.
If you don't mind me asking, what wheel and suspension setup is this?

When I got the LS, it changed my driving style. This was IMO a car that is presumed to be driven by mature drivers. Not citing age but simply a level of driving maturity. Stop light to stop light jaunts and "seeing what it will do" just weren't part of the refinment at this level.

I could enjoy the ride qualities and not feel that each trip was some race against a stop watch. Like when I was in my 20's and a destination was to get there as soon as possible. Although I realized that risking my life and others was foolish back then so there was that presence of respect for fellow motorists.

I've been in Toyota sedans since the '80's and the same discussion was present back then too. Cressida's were for the older folks. The Supra engine in a 4 door was fun. My buddies bought sporty coupes and paid the high insurance rates. I liked sleepers anyhoo.

As age goes, I'm probably at the start of the LS target market.

I'm 17, turning 18 in a few weeks.
My dad is in the mid to high 40's as is my mom. My mom is the primary driver on the LS430, yet I voted under 35 for the poll

I used to have an LS400 that used to be my dads. I now have an X5.

I agree. I like the fact that when I need to pass somebody, I can go from like 50 to 100 in about 2 seconds (!), but in general, I just don't have the need to get where I'm going in the minimum amount of time anymore. And it's not because I've gotten old; it's because I've gotten an LS430. Why the hell would you need to get where you're going in record time when the place you're going isn't as nice as the place you already are!

I own both 2 BMWs & a Lexus.

I know that feeling too. I love the LS look and I bought it new when I was 26. After a few of yrs of driving I felt a tad old in it. I felt even more old after I bought the BMW where there is so much connection to the road. Tho I still like the LS look, it felt like a old man's car. Tho I can't complain about the comfy ride for its longer haul drive.

def. true in NY.... Lexus stealer> BMW stealer.

Heh, heh, heh . . . I went from one extreme to another:

I've always loved the LS and intend on modifying the cosmetics & audio system a touch, but not to the extreme I did on my Z . . . I sunk over $50k in that vehicle (cost of vehicle, plus upgrades).

Thought I'd get my two cents in. I bought my LS 430 after researching all new cars. Bought a year old Ultra luxury with 14 k miles on EBay. It had every bells & whistle Lexus offered + some (Beltronics radar, Sony DVD & two rear monitors) and got it for the price of a regular LS. I collect old cars and miss the craftmenship and styling that went into them. I still like fast, even though I'll be 65 in a couple of months, but then I can get in my little red roadster.
