Compass on 2006 LS 430 . . . ??
Howdy. I'm a newbie . . . just joined this morning and have a question.
Cannot find the compass on my 2006 LS 430. The user's manual says to push the DISP2 button on the steering wheel repeatedly to turn the compass on. Doesn't work. Pushing this button will eventually turn the outside temperature in the dash OFF and a few more pushes will bring back the outside temperature display, but the compass never shows up.
Dealer says maybe the car doesn't have a compass because it has the NAV system. I don't buy this because the compass is mentioned both in the list of standard accessories and in the owner's manual. And, it's something I would enjoy using, even with the NAV system (not that it's totally necessary.)
Appreciate any advice . . . and thanks for the great forum!
TIA,
Ralph

The small compass needle on the NAV screen is virtually worthless for a quick indication of what direction you're heading, especially in the hills & hollows of upper East Tennessee. Guess I'll learn to live with it but really have enjoyed using the compass on other vehicles I have owned.
It is a nice complement to the NAV system. I use a Garmin 2620 in my Tahoe which has a compass and they work together nicely.
Again . . . thanks and have a nice holiday!
