Nav problem in 2001 LS 430
I recently purchased a used 2001 with Nav that is unfortunately out of warranty. The car is great except for a problem I'm having with the Nav voice command system. When I hit the command switch, the green voice icon comes up, but it does not understand any of my commands. I receive the response: "System does not recognize that command, please try again". I have tried many of the command listed in the manual, without luck. Any thoughts??

Have you talked up towards the speaker spots? (by the HomeLink garage door controls). Speak slowly and enunciate clearly.
Or perhaps there's a problem with the microphone.
One other thing is to bring up the diagnostic screen and adjust the microphone volume. The diagonistic screen can be accessed if you search for the 'NAVI override' thread.

Do you have a thick accent??? If so, it might be not hearing it right. It is not the smartest system. Try saying home a few different ways.
If not, you might just have a bad mic. You should be able to get a replacement mic from one of our vendors for fairly cheap.

Nav fix
I was able to access the Nav service screen but there was no option to change the microphone volume. I will be taking it into the dealer tomorrow and I'll post their findings.

Fixed!
Well, when they disconnected the Lexus Link system for the previous owner, they forgot to plug in one of the wires. It was fixed for free. Voice recognition works like a charm now.
