I've got a few questions for those who have factory ordered a Lexus. Unfortunately, I am one of those people who wants a specific vehicle which (of course) is hard to find thus necessitating a factory order. Although I have ordered a GX and not an LS, I'd imagine the process is the same which is why I'd like to hear from people here who have ordered their cars.
I didn't know a factory order was even possible, but am told that it can be done for those who are patient.
- How long did the whole process take? I was told up to 3 months.
- Any suggestions/experiences/insight/stories?
Thanks to all in advance-
Jim

it's possible, and yes, it takes about 90 days to arrive
i almost custom ordered my sc430, but didn't coz' i would have to pay msrp. pretty much always, you will pay msrp if you do custom order. kinda sad but what can you do. other than that, i don't think there are any other "issues"

Not too sure about that MSRP statement. I had the dealer tell me that if I wanted to order one I could get the same or a little more off the negotiated price since they don't have to pay any carrying costs or taxes if the car never sits on the lot. Dealers pay tax each month on each car that sits on the lot so if they never have to pay the costs, you might come out a winner.

This will be my first Japanese car in 13 yrs or so and the last I knew factory orders simply were not possible. Looks like alot has changed. So far, its 1-2 weeks down and who knows how much more to go!
As before, any other input/experiences welcome

I negotiated the price and got the same deal as a car on the showroom floor. It took 90 days from date of order for my LS 430UL to arrive.
Congrats on buying Lexus. I am sure you won't be disappointed.
