Default Tire Pressure Monitor Warning light

The tire pressure light came on in my wife's LS430 (2004). I inflated the tires to the proper pressure and tried to find the reset switch. In the owners manual it shows the swich on the dash under the ignition. All that I have is a blank out panel where a switch should be. Any help for a frustrated soul. :uh

Thanks

Thanks for your reply. Is this dangerous or can the car be driven until I get it into the dealer?

How about the spare tire also?
I heard that if the spare is low, that can also set off the sensor? Not sure about this, but just want to mention this also.

The reset button is indeed on the dash under the ignition, but WAY under the ignition, under the dashboard itself. It's difficult to find but if you keep moving your hand down and toward the front of the car you will find it underneath the dash before your hand touches the accelerator pedal.

It's service bulletin TSIB #TG003-04 ("tire pressure warning system light on"). The Lexus rep claims they just reprogram the ECU, no mechanical parts are involved. Thanks for posting this koolaidman.

Default Are you serious or joking

I can't tell if you guys are serious or joking. I've had the "tire pressure" warning light issue for over a year. They "fixed" it in January (I am not sure what they did) and it was fine until the weather got cold again in early December...now it's back. Is the TSB for a hard part repair (thus the $2000 expense that someone referred to) or is it just some minor software improvement? In other words, exactly what do I insist that my dealer does this time? And what were you talking about $1700 repair? HUH?

I am not "worried', it's just unclear to me from how you write what is going on. Is there something DIFFERENT to do than what they did last January (which, I believe, was to replace the sensors in the wheels)? And if there is, is it something recently discovered or is it something they should have done back then? When I take it back in, what do I insist they do this time so it doesn't happen again?

Daryll40,

When I had the problem about a year ago, my dealership told me they replaced a small computer that is tied to the tire pressure system. I didn't ask too many questions because they replaced it under warranty so I didn't care as long as it solved the problem, but I could call them and get more information on it. The problem has not come back.

Thanks for that info. I'll show the dealer these posts. I assume they'll get this fixed, but I also suspect it will require two visits as they probably will try the cheap fix first.

Default Some Follow Up

OK, it's been about 2 months since my "TIRE PRESSURE" light came on. The dealer told me that there is some TSB saying to put in 34 pounds of pressure, NOT 32 as per the sticker on the car. I figured that was just dealer BS. But, to my surprise, I've had 34 lbs since December and the light has not come back on. So perhaps the "fix" to this "problem" is merely an adjustment to tire pressure.

I guess it's OK to believe the dealer occasionally!
