Is there a way of turning off the power trunk closer?
not that I want to know how, but the ls430 we have, it doesnt seem to have that feature, it just closes like a normal trunk? Maybe it is broken?
Also unless you open the trunk all the way up, it will fall back down, this probably means worn struts correct?
Luckily the car is still under warranty, would the struts be under the warranty, the trunk already almost busted open my step brothers head when it fell on him while he was reaching for something.

I don't think you need a UL package to have trunk closer assist. Mine does that (no UL). My problem is it is so heavy to lift up the trunk. It is not like any other cars I've had when I only need one finger to lift it up, this car, I have to use, in some instances, both hands!
Is it normal?
BTW, thanks GRAND_LS for the instruction on how to reset A/C filter on the other thread.

I think it's normal because I've got the same exact problem on my LS430. What they needed was an "auto" open feature.

Hi,
Is there a switch to press to use the power trunk closer? I haven't seen the power feature yet.
Based on a thread that was here a while ago, it seems that the Lexus engineers set the trunk up so that it opens with a medium-heavy lift but will close very easily. On mine I have to have the trunk open all the way or it will come back down. Once I get it moving down, even very slowly, it continues down. No slamming necessary! I would have preferred that it open easier, but I believe that this was the plan???
If anyone has a different perspective, please let us know. Mine is under CPO warranty so I'll get that fixed.

I kind of like it being heavier to open and easy to close. Normally it's the other way around.
Then again, I barely ever use the silly thing other than for soccer ***** & equipment for my daughter's soccer team that I coach.
