02 LS Purchase
I'm looking at a 2002 LS430, 56K miles and they (dealer) are asking $35K. I have an 1994 ls that I think is worth about $3500 as a trade. Is there anything about the 02's that I should be aware of? Is $35K a fair price. I hate selling cars and I live in the boonies or I might sell the '94, I realize it retail books around $8k.

Sold my 1996 LS here on Club Lexus...Great guy, I hope his son enjoys the car...It was a great car (I'm sure it will be for many years too)

It's all about negotiation . . . tell them you want $4500 on trade and will give them $30k total for the car ($26k after trade). They, of course, will say something like: "$4000 on trade and $33k total." Go back and forth . . .
I think $32k is "reasonable," but never pay the "asking" price.

If you can, wait until the 2007 LS460 comes out. The 2001-2006 LS 430's will be cheaper then. Some will say not to wait but, patience seems to give back a higher reward. Unless you have to get rid of your current Lexus now.

Okay,
I keep seeing people talking about 23k for these cars, but I have not found one under 25k.....I have been looking for about a month. I search on cars.com, auto trader, and auto mart...not too many dealers are around my area that have LS's, and I do get lazy on my only day off (Saturdays) to go to a bigger city to look at cars.
I live in the boonies, so I really do not want to offer my car for sale because then everyone is going to want to test drive the car (bmw 7 series) so that is why I am really considering a trade-in.

Whos saying 23 for a ultra lux package equipped car? I think one person said 23 for non ultra, which i think is too low, possibly a roughed up model that you dont want. Ultra is a big option so to get a quality vehicle you'll be around 30k. by quality i mean not abused but cared for. a clean interior is the most precious since theres only so much you can do to reconsition it without having to buy new and costly trim pieces and leather.
the LS its worth the money though. once you buy it you'll never go lower. thye keep their value because they are keeper vehicles and rare on the market. when they are up for sale nobody is in a hurry to sell them because its only for lifestyle reasons or an upgrade, its never a firesale because of mechanical problems with these cars like you'll see on other used models.
good luck and keep us posted!
