fits perfectly... however, the screens that cover the rear A/C outlets in the rear deck vibrate to some bass lines. also, the sub doesn't reproduce some frequencies as well as the stock sub. im using the stock amp and the sub is rated at 75w at 4 ohms. the magnet is much larger on the JL compared to the ML so i'm guessing the voice coil is longer causing more excursion and air movement. i think that the stock enclosure is too small for the greater excursion of the wo8. I was thinking of maybe porting the enclosure to the trunk to allow more air to move freely. has anyone done this before? any ideas on what the length of the ports should be for the best tuning? i have much experience with custom car audio, but not with an 8" sub. any help or advise appreciated.

The replacement wont be as loud due to the higher power requirements from the larger magnet. But the good thing is it probably wont blow for a longggg time since the ML amp wont be pushing it to the limit even remotely so.

JL subs are wrong for a stock system unless you add a amp. If you install a sub into a stock system you will need a very high sensitivity 90 dB or above and also with a low wattage range.....and also free air !

There must be some brand aftermart subs that will work well with the stock Ml system right? Who makes these subs and where can we find them?

i noticed that you drive an LS430 and an MB S500. I have an LS430 and was wondering what the driving differences are between the MB and the Lexus. When I was purchasing a car it was between those two and I had some buyer's remorse afterward somewhat, thinking "what if" ya know? Let me know what the driving differences are, that would be awesome. Thanks bud! at 23 ur doing pretty well compared to my 20 years young
