Yes, I know about the override, but does anybody have any experience with this:

I've been voyering around on this forum for a while ... Finally got registered today. Hopefully the Admin's will adjust my username ... ... was supposed to be Still_Single.
Anyway - I've got the ultra lockpick in my 2005 LS430 Ultra - and have installed a 2nd one in a 2006 LS430 Ultra. I thought I'd share my comments.
The I Agree override, Destination entry override, and bluetooth number entry override all worked as advertised on both cars. The DVD video support in the ultra package works - but the LS430 doesn't have a button to bring up the DVD page - you have to use voice recognition to bring up the page. (on both cars)
I also have the VAIS iPod+Video device - and there is a compatibility problem between it and the lockpick. The video signal on the AVIC-100i A/V unit will not work with the lockpick installed. The audio still works, however - as does all of the iPod functionality.
I also have the VAIS SoundlinQ SLI iPod adapter. There are no compatibility issues between it and the lockpick that I am aware of. (both cars have the SLI adapter too - no issues on either)
Since I've mentioned the VAIS devices - they work extremely well - with the exception that they cannot be controlled from the rear seat audio control panel in the LS430 Ultra. It's not a show stopper - but you can hit the mode button to go from FM1 to FM2 to CD ... when you get to one of the modes controlled by the AVIC it just hangs ... until someone in the front seat switches to the desired mode.
Hope that answers a few questions ...
By the way - even with the rear seat control issue - I'd still recommend the VAIS iPod interface - With 60Gb of music in the trunk and a connection for another iPod up front - It's all I listen too anymore ...

Installing the lockpick in the LS430 involves pulling the cd changer and the video display. Installing the iPod interface is pretty much the same task. If you're thinking about doing both do them at the same time as save yourself some effort. Plan on 2 hours start to finish.

Hmmm..Two hours and tear into the dash? Here what their web site says:
For most vehicles, installation consists of simply sliding the driver's seat back, unplugging two connectors, and plugging in the kit. Total install less than 5 minutes!

5 minutes??? ... that makes for good advertising - but I can't believe that even a certified Lexus mechanic could pull the nav display on an LS430 and put it back in 5 minutes! ... and if he can - I wouldn't want someone working that fast and wreckless on my car!
I believe the connector on the Prius and a few other models may be under the seat - in which case it would be a really fast upgrade - so they're not lying - but on the LS430 the connectors in question are behind the nav display - and the only way to get to them is to remove several of the center console components.
I still recommend the upgrade for those interested - it's not that tough a job.

XM Radio Character Truncated
I just had a dealer install a factory XM Radio in my 12006 LS430, and the artist and titles truncated at 10 characters. Is there any kind of settings on the radio that will allow more characters, or is it strictly a nav system issue? And if so, is this something the dealer has to/will do? I saw the website for the Lockpick, and it looks like that may be a solution. I’m wondering how difficult it is to take the nav system out to install it? I’m fairly certain the dealer will not do that if they know I’m installing a Lockpick.
Thanks

Still Single, quick question for you. When playing DVD's what kind of audio sigle does it use, meaning stereo or surround or maybe even Dobly Digital? I am really considering replacing my LS400 for an 04 Ultra and this lockpick is one cool looking toy. My LS400 runs and drives perfectly but I am wanting more gadjets... : )

Audio input for either the Lockpick or VAIS is standard 2 channel RCA L/R. Video for both is standard 2 wire RCA (signal/ground) composite. (no SVHS/VGA/DVI/HDMI)
5 channel digital surround would have been outstanding - but you can't have everything - Where would you put it???

I am planning on buying the lockpick plus ipod system.
Does anyone have instructions on how to remove dash/video display etc on a 2004 LS430 for installation?
Edit - just found this thread:-
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...light=lockpick
If anyone has more detail though I'd happily take it - I don't want to destroy my car if I can avoid it
