Default Navi computer needs to be replaced

I have an 02 Celsior C package. (Live in Japan).
Towards the end of December, my navi screen started getting a blue tint to it. ONly the Navi and Navi menu screens had this problem. The audio/ac/etc.....were are normal color.
I took it to the dealer yesterday, and just got a call back from them.
From what I got from my conversation w/ them.......1) the cable from the navi display to the computer in the back is bad, so that needs to be replaced. and 2) even w/ that fix, they said it's possible that it will happen again, so they want to replace the navi computer.

Brand new-$5,000. 1 week.
Refurb-$2500. 2-3 weeks.
Fix the original unit and reinstall- $2000. 20 days.

It's under warranty from the place I bought it, so the dealer had to call them to find out what option to take. Brand new would be great, but I highly doubt that will happend. i'm thinking refurb or repair the original.

anyone have anything like this happen to their screen?
the blue tint on it actually makes it darker than night mode.
So when I turned my headlights on, the navi display actually got a little brighter.

Just got off the phone w/ Toyota. I wanted to find out what option the dealer chose to go for the repair. The service rep said that he is waiting for a call from the 'main branch' as to which repair they route they will go.

I asked if I can drive the car while waiting for the parts to come in and while the computer/display are being refurbished.
He said, it'd be best to leave it w/ them.
1. they have to take off the front panel to get to the display out. that means i'd lose the AC/Heater and other controls.
2. they need to take the rear seat out as well, to get to something.
is he pulling my leg, or is that the way to the navi computer? can't get it from the trunk?
he said they'd like to have the car, so they can work bit by bit as they get the materials for the repair.

Just an update.
They decided to fix the original unit.
Estimated return date is 1/27. Damn that's a long time.
Meanwhile, I'm driving a POS BlueBird.

The navi cables extend from the front, to the rear in the trunk, so its possible they had to take off the rear seat.

But honestly, i suspect its one of the cables. The same thing happens when your computer's monitor is half way plugged in. You see either everything in blue, or yellow, or red. So my guess is that it was just the cable.

thanks for the reply.
they said they were definately replacing the cable(s).
But they also said they were taking the computer out and the display out as well.
"repairing" them. That's what's taking a long time. THey had to send it out for repair.
