The former owner of my car had a metal phone mount right next to the CD changer, and of course when it was removed there is a slight depression where it used to be. It's the only slight flaw in an otherwise incredible interior, and it bugs me sometimes.

Any ideas? Is the material next to the Radio leather?

So, short of replacing the entire piece, what can be done about this? I see LOTS of cars being sold with cell phone / PDA holders. Some of us do not want that cluttering up the dash, and when we buy cars that the previous owner had them in there, it'll leave such marks on our interiors.
Thoughts?

I wonder if a leather repair shop could fix something like that.

Alternatively, I know you said that you prefer not to have such things cluttering your dash, but have you really ruled out the possibility of adding a phone holster to your car? I have one in mine, and I couldn't live without it. It shares the same bolt that the radio/climate control unit uses, and would probably cover that indentation. Just a thought.

Oh, I don't know if it's leather, but I'm thinking that a leather repair shop probably repairs other types of materials as well and might be able to make it look better than it does.

I know this might sound funny, but have you tried to match the color with a marker, shoe polish, etc.? Is the indentation that bad? Would you notice it as much if the color matched the rest of the area? I wouldn't experiment on it, because if you make it worse it'll bother you even more, but I was just thinking whether making the color match would be good enough.

only ul and cl packages wrap this dash piece in leather. they should be able to fix it with some kind of vinyl filler. i had this done for my 4runner's dash at the dealership when i purchased the truck years ago.

Interesting. Even better! My car is the Modern Luxury, so I sure hope you're right! I'll take it to the dealer soon and find out what they say. Did you Toyota come out so well that you couldn't even notice it had been done?

Thanks to this topic I decided not to buy that Iron phone mounting brace. Because of the construction I was sure that it coudnt do any harm but it does!!!!!

Take you car to your Lexus dealer and ask them who they use for touch up of their vehicles. You should then be able to contact that person and probably meet them at the Lexus dealer when he services them. He should make a perfect match and and a very reasonable price (less than $50).

any leather repair place can easily fix that. Put some flex fill and then do a quick dye and it will be good to go. Won't be very expensive either.
