I've Have only had the car for 3 weeks but I have put about 1500 miles on it.

The only problems I've had thus far was the subwoofer tear that caused the subwoofer to pop. I quickly fixed this using the silicone repair method that I found discussed in multiple threads in this forum. I also experienced the AFS light flashing. However it stop flashing a week ago and it hasn't come on since.

04 LS430 ML. Now has 118k miles.
No problems at all. Did the 100k service and just maintenance. Only thing that sucks is when brake sensors are triggered you have to replace them. Runs like it has 40k miles on it.

purchased 04 on Oct 15 and has 83,500 on it. Getting the PS whine when cold so it may be time for the pump to be replaced. Otherwise it looks and drives like a brand new car.

I bought my '04 New...lower temp PS whine was there from the day one.

It is your call, but I've made it a practice to change my tranny fluid and always use Toyota Fluid -- None of that aftermarket stuff-- My goal is to make this one last until the new LS comes out in three more years.

Interesting. I posted a thread a few days back with no responses about the PS whine when cold. I just noticed it this past week here in Florida where it never really gets cold, but with the first start of the day, the PS whine is there and then gone once warm. I read that it had to do with some dry seals expanding once it warmed up. It doesn't make much sense changing the pump if the steering is fine and the noise does go away in a few minutes. 2001 LS430 with 105,000 miles. Any thoughts???

2003 - 113,000 miles.

I have a "Taillamp Failure" warning, but no lights out, so I have to look at the wiring. Otherwise, not much to complain about.

(I would like to update the GPS DVD sometime, but I don;t want to pay through the nose for it.)

Take your car to an auto parts store and ask to have the check engine code read. Auto Zone and Advance offer this service for free.

I'm guessing with your mileage, it wouldn't be out of the question that your catalytic convertors are operating below threshold. That's a fancy way of saying that your cats are on their way out. You have a few options. Replace the cats with factory units and be prepared to be raped in the pooper, replace them with aftermarkets and still possibly throw a code because they aren't made specific to the car, or cut out the cats, replace with a straight pipe, run a de-fouler to fool the sensor and call it a day.

My car is at 166k and threw the cat code about a month back.

2004 ML – 90,000 miles. Bought it in Nov. 2004 with about 18K miles. Planning on keeping this car for a very long time. Replaced Timing Belt, Water Pump, Plugs a couple months ago. The navigation unit went bad a couple years ago and I had to replace it, which cost around $1500.00. Other than that, just regular maintenance. I just ordered some 18” hyper black wheels from OE wheels because my chrome started peeling and looks nasty. No issues with the engine. I was told by few Lexus service consultants that these engines are bullet proof. Ooh and about a month ago I replace my sub, went bad, but I put a Kicker in the same spot, and it sounds much much better.

have 58K miles on my 2004 LS430 UL after checking odo today.... hope it runs forever b/c am waiting on modding it till little later.... working on another one at the moment..
