Runs as well as the day it rolled off the line and I'm no zealot when it comes to taking care of it. Oil changes probably every 6k-8k miles. I'm seriously hoping to get it over 400,000.
Nice.
How are your suspension bushings? Did you replace anything there?
What other small items you had to deal with?

Check engine light . Really, if you are at 100k and over and they have never been done do them and the engine temp sensor. Their cheap and make a big difference. My 04 UL with 144k gets 28+ mpg all day long on the highway. Poor mileage can also be a sign they are going. Of course clean MAF, throttle body, and injectors help. My favorite additive is the Dura Lube Severe System Cleaner. Big bottle for a big tank. I run a bottle every 5k miles or so.

I should mention UL's get better mileage then other models but if you are seeing anything less then 25 average or so when cruising at 70 mph on fairly flat road then something is not working ideal.

Are you saying I should drive the Lexus more than my work horse car? May I ask the reasoning for your idea pls. I purchased the Lexus as a retirement car. I appreciate your comments.

Thanks,

I have been told by my Lexus mechanic only to drain and replace fluid, do not do the dealership flush service. Apparently shavings end up getting loose and causing major trans problems.

I've had the suspension checked recently and was told there was no problems. The only other problem I had was due to the negative camber required on the rear wheels. Apparently it was not adjustable so I put on some adjustable arms and set them to zero, straight up and down. I don't do much cornering. Other than that, no changes beyond wear on all the predictable parts.

2003 LS430 just purchased last Saturday with 143k on it. The dealership did standard oil change and all of that before they put it up for sale. Having some work done on it Tuesday for check engine light, and need to do timing belt and water pump since I do not know if that has ever been done or not.

I have 226K on a 2002. I notice the car feels like it skips a gear when I am coming to a stop. Is this a sign of transmission failure? I was planning to do some major electrical work ($1500) but if the tranny's going then it's moot. Skipping doesn't happen all the time, just once in a while. I have changed the timing belt twice, since purchased back in 08 with 92K miles on it. Brakes changed 3 times, tires changed 2 times. replaced the radiator due to a small crack in the original. Other than minor electrical malfunctions (but major $) I have had no issues. Love this car and plan to keep it until 400K miles. I asked the Lexus dealership what was the highest mileage Lexus brought in for service. it was an LS 430 with 425K miles, still going strong. I follow all the suggested maintenance in the owner's manual also, but I don't take it to the dealer for service that often.
