Ok cool, what made you decide on the 01 instead of an 04,I appreciate all of this information, just trying to gather all I can...
Well,
To be honest, I was in the right place at the right time.
When I purchase a vehicle to drive back/forth to work, my thought process is often different than others. I knew what the vehicle was capable of; however, I also knew what I was getting ready to do to it (about 50,000 miles a year). Keep in mind, there will be NO resale of this vehicle. I will drive it until it fails. Would I have rather gotten an 04-06? Well, you bet I would have. The newly shaped head lights and clear signal tail lights, along with several other console cockpit options, and the wheel package selection. Sure - I would have loved the 04-06. But in the fall of 2014, I just couldn't find an 04-06 LS430 for $3750. So, I jumped on a 2001 Ls430 with 221,000 miles for less than $4K.
That, my fiend, is why I decided to go with the 01. You're going to hate to hear this, but the 01 LS is my 'Beater' commute car. Mind you, this is the perfect 'beater' if you plan to sit in a car for over an hour an day. Seats alone are worth it. They are coined the 'Million Way' seats & there is a reason for it. (if not coined, then I am doing it now!)

If there's another car maker out there besides LEXUS in which a buyer can feel so confident in buying a 2001 car with over 200,000 miles I don't know who that car manufacturer might be,the LEXUS LS400 and the LS430 are both arguably the BEST OVERALL MECHANICALLY SOUND cars EVER,hey Noah your 01 LS430 sounds like it's the ABSOLUTE TRUTH,I won't be to far behind,it's coming...
HOLY DOUBLE LUNAR MILES, BATMAN!! That car has just about the same amount of miles to have driven to the moon, back to earth, and again to the moon. I obviously am familiar with Matt Farah's MML, but that car is a dinosaur compared to this '01. Simply amazing!

So true. My commute is about the same.. About 75 minutes each way. I'm averaging 36,000 miles a year and this car really soaks them up. My 2001 is my "beater" as well, The 2005 spends most of it's time in the garage and is finally just shy of 60K on the odo..
Bought my gold 2003 with nav/mark a couple months ago with 88k miles. Did the 90k service last week with all factory parts. Mechanic said it was in exceptional condition other than the water pump was just starting to leak.
My brother has a 2001 he has owned for over 10 years and it has been a very comfortable and reliable car. Now with over 200K miles and still running great.

Wow, that exterior and paint looks like it's in exceptionally great shape! I don't see it in your picture, but are you headlight lenses starting to get foggy at all? I had the lenses on my '04 restored when I first bought the car a little over 3 years ago, but have to have them done again since they're starting to fog up again.

They are foggy on the top edges, but the rest is clear. Previous owner was an attorney in his 80s. Overall the car is in really good shape, especially for being 15 years old and I'm very happy with it. Already did a few road trips and it drives great!
