Well generally speaking the first is the Cadillac badge, usually followed by slipping or failing to catch gears past 2

Caddy the one I would replace. Keeping LS. Caddy shifts hard into 1st gear. On downshift too. Especially when hot. Reverse & other gears shift normally. And car drives smoothly.

Thumbs up LS430 (2006) Great Car

Bought 3 years ago 85000KLM now 131000KLM Changed telescope steering motor e-bay $450.00 (Self). Air-conditioner small leak. Finally traced to leak in low side rubber hose. (Used e-bay $35.00)
Starting issue cured by cleaning M.A.F. and carbon from throttle plate. Trunk struts changed knock offs but work fine (e-bay cheap)
Looks like new in and out no squeaks, rattles or rust. Tan inside and silver. Has standard suspension.

I came across a green 04 LS430 in Pasadena with ~500,000 Miles. I was on a transcon roadtrip and took my car to LEX Mastertech in Pasadena for some work. The wife who runs the front of the shop commented they've a customer with the same car as mine but with 4x the mileage.

As we were speaking, sure enough the half million mile green LS430 pulled in, and the owner and I had a good chat while our cars were worked on. His car looked fantastic, couldn't tell at all that it has 500k miles.

I just hit 145,000 miles today. I haven’t driven the car as much since late 2019. I had a few different daily drivers since then.

Default 300k Club

Just hit 300,000 miles on my 04 Ls430 Base

Bought it in 2011 with 89,000. It’s been across the country (NY to CA) twice. Up to Canada and down to Texas. I ski every weekend in the north east and this think has been my V8 RWD beast. I believe I’ve been pulled out of a ditch about 5 times.

Only repairs ever done were proactively replacing the timing chain at 100k (water pump was ordered but never installed - it’s been in the trunk ever since), welded the exhaust a few times, and replaced an O2 sensor that causes traction control to kick off.

Currently it has bad cats and the O2 sensor is shot again causing traction control to stay off. Trying to decide if I want to throw money into repairs or just keep driving it. She drives great. Best to crap tho. Front and rear bumpers are cracked. Door has a nice big dent. But shes beautiful to me.

People ask why I’m an asset manager making good money driving a beat up 04 LS.. I tell em if they have to ask they’ll never understand.

Catch y’all at 400k

Thumbs up

2005 LS430, bought in 1/2013 with 88K miles.
125K miles in 1/2021 (less than 5K miles/year).
126K miles in 9/2021 (a little over 100 miles/month because of pandemic).

New timing belt, water pump, etc at 100K/10 years (2015)... original probably would have lasted much longer.

New front right power window motor, front left (driver) door lock actuator, hood and trunk hydraulic struts, 4 new brake rotors.

Glad I got this Lexus LS instead of a similar year MB E-Class which would have cost me a lot more in repair/maintenance.

I'm at 131K now and averaging 5,000 miles per year on my '05. Everything working great, no recent repairs at all, just regular maintenance.

A guy in Portland is selling '05 UL that looks really really nice - with 351,000 miles on it. .https://portland.craigslist.org/clc/...373538287.html
