First let me say thanks to the experienced Lexus owners for checking out my thread and taking time to respond. After driving Mercedes, BMW, and Volvo, for 17 years - my wife and I are making the switch. She'll be purchasing a CPO RX330 in about a year, and I've convinced myself to go with a little bit older LS in a month or two.
My question, especially for those who have owned both, is given the choice to go w/ a 99-00 LS 400 or a 01-02 LS 430 (w/ maybe higher mileage like 80 to 90K) what would you buy and why?
I really prefer the updated style and features of the LS 430, and I'm leaning in that direction. However, I've read lots of good things about both cars written by owners at Edmunds.com and other Web resources. I'm just curious if there are any "new generation" issues that I should be aware of while shopping for the LS 430, or that even make it worth stepping back a year to the LS 400?
I've got my eye on a Blk on Blk 01 LS 430 right now w/ 91K. It appears to have been very well maintained, and includes ML stereo and navigation. I commute about 12k per/yr, and I am particular about the care and maintenance of my vehicles.
All advice and opinions are greatly appreciated!!

Both cars are great. If you havent yet, you should test drive both. The features list on the 01 LS alone should blow away the 99 especially if you buy it with the ultra luxury package. Highlights of the UL package are air suspension, rear beverage cooler, and massaging seats. LS430 ftw

Buy the LS430. You'll NEVER regret it! '01s can be had pretty cheap ($19 - $25k). That's very cheap considering all the features that are available. Definitely spring for the Ultra package if you can spring for the extra change.

Thanks for the responses so far. I've had some time now to search the forum posts too, and I see alot of very happy LS 430 owners.
The '01 and '02 are definitely in my price range, so I think I'm just going to take my time and find the right one. I'll definitely keep an eye out for the UL package too.
I can hardly wait!!
