Default new rotors and pads

I just put some cross-drilled/ slotted rotors with posi quiet ceramic pads yesterday, loving the new rotors and pads. Got the parts from a rotor shop in Garden Grovem CA call Rotorwork (www.rotorwork.com), very nice people to deal with , and they told me you have the options of ordering the rotors with cross-drilled/slotted, or cross-drilled only, or slotted only, or blank, and the price is the same. I thought this information will be helpful to those in socal area that need to replace the brakes on their car. Doesn't matter what kind of application you need, and you know you are actually dealing with someone in person, not just through emails.... just my 2 cents

What does all this mean to us average guys? Can doing this get me better than the 17000 to 18000 miles that I now get out of all 4 brake pads (here in the STEEP hils of Pittsburgh, up and down ALL day)? Will it save the rotors from having to be alternatively cut then replaced every other pad change? Just what does all that technobraketalk mean?

We put slotted or drilled rotors on our F350 crewcabs that we use for skiing. Coming back down the mountain all the time would get the brakes hot and warp the rotors and then everytime that you stepped on the brakes fom that point would give you a shimmy. With the slotted rotors we now have no problem. The slots disapate the heat much quicker and don't warp the rotors. I can't tell you if the pads last longer but the time between brake jobs went up since we are not going in to get rid of the shake and shimmy.

Well, I am not brake pro, just sharing my 2 cents, if the brake pad like on your vehicle is not that well, why not give it a try?

Slotted rotors chew through pads very quickly...drilled is a better option if you do not which to change pads every 15K. Also if the rotor warp easily like that Ford super duty that is a simple design flaw where the rotors were not thick enough to begin with and the excessive heat from driving down a mountain ruined them.

I put slotted/drilled aftermarket rotors on my 98 LS400 and what a waste of time money and energy they were. Brembo is the best if you going to do this. Fleabay crap only rusts and does not really brake any better IMO than OEM stuff.
