Default speakers popping and cracking sound

Hi guys, i've tried to search and google it, but haven't find the answer i was looking for. Lately while driving and the radio is off, i hear a very loud sound coming from the speakers and it scare the chit out of me. It sounded so loud that i thought it would tear up the speakers. Have anyone of you have this similar problem? I am thinking a loose wire somewhere or the amp connectors is loose. BTW, i couldn't find the Amp in the trunk. My Lexus is 01' with MLevinson system.

thanks in advance,
nick

Your speakers might have blown.

The speakers still good, cause i can listened to music just fine. Another thing is sometime the audio system work and sometime it doesn't.

ONE of your speakers is shorted out or even worse, your ML amp is going out or one of your ML amp's output is shorted out.
I had this happened to me before and it's because my ML subwoofer was shorted out. I had since then replaced it and it's working fine now. Dealer wanted to change my ML amp but I isolated the sound coming from the subwoofer and took a chance changed it before changing the ML amp. Hope this help and good luck.

I replaced the ML subwoofer about a year ago. I wanted to take a look at the amp, but i am having a hard time locating it. I checked the trunk area left and right, but nowhere to be found. Do you know where Lexus hide the amp?

thanks for your feedback.

Not sure where but I think it's in the trunk, right side floor by the tail light. You will see the ECU for Nav first and the ML amp should be around there.

My 04 ML amp was hidden behind the passenger quarter panel.
If you find the NAV computer, it is ABOVE it towards the wall. The Carpet will need to be pulled out of the way to really see it.
