My 02 LS430's battery went dead three times in the past month. After the second time, I took the car to the local Pepboys Auto... asked them to check the battery condition as well as the alternator's. I asked them to replace the battery if it is no good. But when I picked the car up, the battery wasn't replaced, the alternator was fine... paid the labor costs.

I still hadn't left the store... walked around browsing car stuff.. and was thinking that there "must" be something wrong with the battery... I then came across a JumpStarter.. and thought 'why not?' and bought the VECTOR VEC012.

The thing works wonders! This morning, the battery went dead again. I took the JumpStarter out of the box, brand new. I was keeping my fingers crossed, hoping there would be some power in the unit (I haven't charged the unit yet). Fortunately, the unit left its factory with lots of power charged to it. So I hooked it up and the LS starts!

I'd recommend this Vector JumpStarter to anyone. My particular battery is old.. it should be replaced.. but even with a new one, I'd still have this JumpStarter in my trunk.. since it can also charge cel. phones, inflate tires, and a whole lot more.

Probably the best 95 dollars I've ever spent.

 

I think there was a recall or TSB on an amp for the stereo that was draining the battery, current draw while ignition off, etc. If it was the alternator, it seems to me that the "idiot light" for the charging system would come on.
