So I just got these new 18" rims that the Goodyear guys approved ahead of time as being the correct fit. They look great and they drive well; the car is very well aligned.
However... those front brake calipers on this car are massive.
The amount of clearance that the spokes have over those calipers is small.
It seems especially small on the front left where I'd guess that it is within 1 millimeter.![EEK!](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/eek1.gif)
Now, I'm sure that in driving them about 75 miles so far that they don't seem to have hit the caliper, but do I need to worry about this being this close?

Hopefully this pic linked in correctly...
Also, as it turns out I actually *do* have 4mm spacers on the front. Goodyear didn't exactly mention that, but I noticed it upon closer inspection and asked them about it.

If they told you they would fit and then they put a spacer on without telling you, then the wheels don't really fit. Personally I'd be pissed and get my money back. Wheels that require spacers don't "fit" like they're supposed to. This is typical of these wheel and tire shop a-holes who don't know squat about the stuff they're selling or the business they're in. But hey if you're happy with them, go ahead and keep them.

You guys really bring up some very valid (and concerning) points.
1. Goodyear did NOT tell me that they were going to put in spacers. I didn't even realize it until I went back today to have the wheels retorqued.
2. Goodyear told me that these wheels would fit (before I ordered them). I agree with the assertion made on this thread that 'if it requires spacers, then they don't really fit'. And that upsets me. First, it seems dishonest. Secondly, I feel like I did not get what I paid for.
3. As mentioned on this thread... if I have 4mm spacers taking up thread length on the Lugs... then there is less threading for the nut to safely be on. And I don't know if I have 7 threads per lug or not.
I'm going back into the shop tomorrow. I will be returning the tires and wheels. They *will* be giving me a full refund (or it will be small claims court).![Mad](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/mad.gif)

I returned the wheels and tires this morning.
I got pretty close to a full refund ($2500 out of $2580 or so)... they stuck me for the alignment and I didn't feel like arguing any more about that. They tried to get me to pay a 'restocking fee', but I wasn't having any of that.
I'm going back to the stock rims (17") and going to have Costco order me some Michelin Pilot MXM4 P225/55R17 tires for those. (I'm done dealing with Goodyear).
Cheaper and no more headaches or worries.

They weren't happy about it.
The sales manager that I was dealing with admitted that he thought they would fit without spacers (and was surprised when they didn't).
He got pretty lippy when my wife implied that they had been somewhat dishonest.
I did my best to diffuse that situation... and got the damned refund.

Lol . . . I love it when a woman puts her $0.02 in with some attitude. Part of me says "yeah, she's the ***** . . . then the other part of me says WHOA! You're lessening the probability of getting this resolved!" My wife-to-be is quick to turn on the scorn switch . . .
