Angry Battery

Anyone ever has problems or experience with the battery on a LS 400 or 430? I bought a brand new LS 430 and the battery dead after two months. One and half year later the brand new battery dead again. Any help or advice on how to deal with it!!!

With all the electronics, it is possible the parasitic drain may be more than the battery can handle. The high possibility is another electrical issue that isn't obvious.

The usual suspects: check alternator to verify proper charging
Ask your service writer or check online about any TSB's regarding electrical issues for your year car.

Hope ya find it.

Here's an odd one for you; I recently found this problem on my car.

I keep an Optima in mine so I rarely need to worry about power drainage issues, but I ahd noticed that upon initial startup I would sometimes have a sort of electronic stutter in things. It wasn't very noticeable, but it was there. I got to poking around, testing the battery and alternator, and they both checked out fine except that my battery seemed to be a tad low. I'm thinking I've been making too many short trips or the heat is getting to it, something...then I get to checking all my connections starting from the battery back. ( I got a wild hair up my butt)

Anybody else still have those two copper pieces that sit between the battery terminal and the actual wires for the positive side? I do (not for long, now) and one of them had become worn to the point that simple tightening of the nut holding it on did nothing for it. It still swiveled with very little resistance, and you could even hear arcing if there was very little ambient noise. NOT GOOD! A washer solved the problem temporarily, but checking little things can often reveal a bigger problem. Over time I could have done damage to all manner of electronic gizmos.

have and auto electric shop check out the alternator for good output if you drive real short drives a few times a day you might need to take the car on a good 1-2 hour run giving the battery a good charge. I was told it take about 1-2 hours to really charge a battery also do you have an extra sound amp in the car or something like that check for battery drain after the engine is turned off what I do is to disconnect the neg cable and touch the battery in the dark if you see a spark then you might have a battery drain

I'm not sure, but your car maybe too new for this problem, but never hurts to check...

I have a LS 430 if not used for a month or so the battery is dead. Lexus says this is normal??? what do you think?? Can you turn off the keyless entry system to prevent battery drainage. or can you put a battery disconnect on the battery for extended non use periods?? Lexus has yet to get back to me how about you??
