Default Side Mirror Control Problem

Hello all,

I have a '03 UL with approximately 90K miles (well, 146K kms actually). Anyhoo, the side mirror control has stopped working altogether, neither responding to manual adjustments nor lowering the mirror automatically when I put the car in reverse (with the lever set to the left or right, as it should be).

I looked over the records of the previous (and only) owner and he had replaced the side mirror control in the past as well.

Has anyone else had a problem with their side mirror control? If so, did it occur on more than one occasion?

Does anyone know how much it costs and whether it is something I can fix?

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Sorry to hear about your problem but it is not the usual as far as I know. Have you checked the associated fuses? I've heard of them needing lubrication but not complete failure.

Sorry to piggyback on your thread but for side mirror retraction, does anyonelses make a motorize noise? I brought my car in for this and they said it was normal. They checked it against other 04 on the lot and they all make the motorize noise. A member here had noted that it was silent? I sat in an 06 and it seems quieter. Anyone?

The driver side mirror control hasn't stopped working, but i can only move the mirror a very small amount before it makes this clicking noise and snaps back to middle. If i ever get some time on my hands i might try to fix it, but i seems like the side mirrors seem to be a common problem amount us.

All,

Thanks for your help. It seems like I'll just have to get a new switch (the fuse was fine).

Kind regards,

T.J.

My driver's side mirror remote adjustment stopped working at 48K miles -- replaced (or repaired -- I didn't ask) under warranty so I don't know the cost. That's the only problem my LS has had so far in its 55K mile life. And for that matter, the only problem any of the vehicles in my sig have had in a total of 162K miles. :knock on wood!:

Mine make a quiet motor noise. Similar to that of a power seat or the sunroof. I would say that it is pretty quiet though.
