Default Seliing our 04 LS430 Ultimate, whats it worth?

Hello

New to the forums, we just took possesion of the new lexus ls460h and love it. We have the old leased LS430 and are trying to sell sell it privately if possible rather than just turn it in and walk away. It has 43K miles, extra warranty purchased by us and new tires and brakes. This lexus has every available option Ultimate luxury package it is silver/black interior. the used dealer only offered us 26-27K for it. The fair wholesale trade in value is 33K. I have it listed for $35999. Any idea what I am looking at,, shodul we just turn the car in or try and sell it back to Lexus or privatly sell the vehicle?

welcome to clublexus, imho just return the car, much easier. but if you have the time, worth trying to list it (i think 36k is an ok price)

btw, it's either ls460/460l or ls600hl

I have EXACTLY the same situation...2004 LS430 with modern luxury, NAV, Mark Levinson and 45K miles. Dealers offered $27,000. I can see that they are going for that on Ebay also. The dealer says Kelley Blue Book is way to high and someone on the Edmunds Car-Talk forum confirmed that. So, unfortunately, it appears that the car is worth about $27,000 trade-in and maybe $30,000 if you can sell it yourself. So far I have not even had one phone call advertized at $32,500. And my car is P-R-I-S-T-I-N-E.

Fair enough...but I meant "exactly the same" in the sense that they are the same year vehicles and we both are finding out that real world trade-in values are no where near Kelley Blue Book numbers.

Default Wholesale is not good for the 04'

I just looked up wholesale from the auctions for your UL. 43K is on the high side for a 04' The average wholesale for the west coast is $28500. Up to you what's worth your time. I would normally tell someone at this point to turn it in. The extra $1500.00 you might make, may not be worth your time in cleaning, showing and dealing with the phone calls.

Randy B

BTW, for the modern in the NE, 45K is high, and the average wholesale $27800. for pristine, it only goes down from there.

Unfortunately you are confirming what I've already figured out. But thank you for the confirmation. Even though I can well afford and would love to get a new LS460, at a mere $27K for my pristine '04 LS430, I think I outta keep it. Heck, in 3 more years at 90,000 miles it will still be worth $12 to $15K. The "value years" seem to be the next 3 (at 15,000 miles/year).

I sold my '03 LS430 w/UL 3 months ago at $31k. It was $3k under KBB private party value "Good". It took me almost 3 months to sell. I can tell you this, the public's appetite for "used" gas guzzling luxo cars is very low at this time, with the price of gas. If you are not in a hurry, try to sell it yourself and just be prepared to wait for months and deal with the "flakers" out there. Better yet, if you can afford it, keep it as a 2nd or 3rd car. If it's more of a monthly liability, just turn it in. Nice choice on the on the LS460h!

Not sure what you guys are talking about. You can EASILY private party that 04 UL (if it's in near perfect condition) here in the Phoenix area for $35.9K. EASILY. List it on CraigsList here for Phoenix. You'll get bites. Just make sure you have shipping set up and have great pictures.

Forget the dealers. You'll always lose with them.

Yeah..Good photos, late afternoon early evening ones. Interior shots with the dash lit up. I love the LS430, but your current photos could be improved..Good luck with the sale!
