I have V. 6 that I purchased from Sewell earlier this year and I can override the lock. It can only be done while you are stopped but once that is done you can get the full screen options on destinations etc. while the car is in motion. The key is to press and hold the override button for about 5 seconds. Perhaps this method will work on V. 7 but if it doesn't than I will stay with V. 6 as I prefer the override.

LSGarry, can you verified that you have v6.1? I too have v6.1 and I have tried both manual (the left top, left bottom, then hold for 5 sec trick) and using a lockpick does not work with v6.1. This has been discussed in other threads https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...=v6.1+override The sure method is either burn a hybrid disc or wire a switch.

I think the only ones locked out are the Gen4's Navi's, as Gary has gen 2/3.

Thanks Grand LS 4. I did not know that the later generation navis would not do that. I thought it was a DVD software issue.

My 2004LS430 has Generation4 Data-Version4.2 DVD and
my 2007ES350 has Generation5 Data-Version6.1 DVD

I hope to know if I can use the new dvd(ver6.1) for my older LS430. When I put in ver6.1dvd in my LS, LS does not detect the disk. But I am not sure if it is because I did not reinstall the new Loading.kwi file by disconnecting the battery for minutes.
Or is it because of the different generation(4 & 5)? If so, there should be nothing I can do to upgrade the gps myself.

Thanks for help in advance.

As did I - does anyone know if you update a gen 2/3 Nav to 6.1/7.1 if the bypass hack goes away?

Does anyone know a download location for a gen 2/3 loading.kwi file to make a hybrid DVD as posted in the GS forums for gen 4 nav?

I believe it is because of the different generation between the two DVD's and nav systems.

I just updated my Gen3 Nav in my GS to 6.1, and I can still use the override feature. So your good to go.

I have '01 430 with version 7.1 that I installed. The override feature still works using proper key strokes. For generation 2 (which is in '01 430) go to menu, select system options, press upper left, lower left, upper left, lower left, lower right then press override key.

If anyone has figured out how to copy the 7.1 disk please advise. Would much prefer having a copy in dvd instead of original.

I'm assuming that the dvd for the '02 430 is located in the trunk like the '01? If so, it is easy and there have been directions posted in this forum.

Thanks for the feedback, GRAND_LS. I'm assuming that's with the OEM 6.1 DVD and not a hybrid 6.1 DVD with the 5.1 loading.kwi

This is great, FLAGator! This is the first I've read on how to do this in gen 2. Thanks!

Is it different copying the 7.1 DVD than copying any previous version? There's instructions for copying in this post - let me know if you have any success. I've read a few places that the '01 LS430 does not read copied DVD's, is this true? Somebody's apparently making copies just fine and selling them on eBay.

Also, am I correct in my understanding that the DVD for Gen 2 is the same for Gen 3? Thanks in advance.

Yes, OEM, not a Hybrid.

And yes, Navi wont mind reading copied discs.

Also yes, the dvd for gen2/3 is the same.

it's a DVD and its located on the passenger side in the trunk under one of the covers. The newest navigation version just came out in Nov and it is version 7.1 The version you have is probably version 1. The vehicle you have is a generation 2/3, you can find the update dvds available on ebay or through your local dealer. good luck
